About Us

The roots of Synod College. Shillong, may be traced back to the visionary ieadership of the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Church which saw the need to establish an educational institution with the aim of imparting higher education to a growing generation of youths across the region and the country as a whole. The College is an educational institution of the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Church, belonging to and managed by the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod Sepngi. It was founded in the year 1965, registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1890: No.SR/SC-6175 of 1975. The College is one of the deficit colleges of Meghalaya and was included under 2f and 12(B) of the University Grants Commission Act of 1956 since 1976. The Institution receives grants from the Government of Meghalaya, UGC. RUSA as well as other central goverment agencies.

The College was affiliated to Gauhati University in 1965 and from 1973 it came under the Jurisdiction of the North-Eastem Hill University. From humble beginnings, the college has grown over the years and has attained high academic standards. making it one of the more well-known Institutions in the region. Supported by a dedicated team of 130 teaching and non-teaching staff, the College offers courses in Arts, Science and Commerce as well as a professional course in Computer Application at the undergraduate level. There are seventeen undergraduate Honours courses. The college caters to over 3500 students from the state of Meghalaya and from different parts of Northeast India. The college also provides amenities and provisions for students hailing from rural areas.

Terms and Conditions
  1. Admission to Synod College is open to all on merit basis..
  2. Any student providing incorrect, false or misleading information in the application form shall forfeit his/her admission to the College.
  3. Failure to pay the admission fee within the stipulated time may lead to cancellation of admission and the seat offered to other candidates.
  4. At the time of joining the college, the candidates must produce Xerox copy (self-attested) of the following documents:
  • X/XII mark-sheet.
  • Caste/Tribe/ Community certificate if applicable
  • Payment receipt.
  • Migration certificate, if applicable (for students coming from outside MBOSE & NEHU).
  • Print out of the Online Anti-ragging Affidavit (to be filled online by the students at http://antiragging.in).

  3. The decisions of the Admission Committee is final and binding.
Important Instructions

Please read the prospectus carefully before applying for admission.

  1. Register on our application portal with your email address. To register click Apply Online
  2. After registration, check your email ID to verify the e-mail id and activate your registration.
  3. Log-in using your email ID and password.
  4. Proceed for payment of Application fee of Rs 210
  5. After your payment of Application fee is successful you can fill up the Admission form and uload the required documents
  6. Click Submit after you have filled the application.
  7. Candidates will receive a notification in their mobile no or email regarding the successful submission of the application form.
  8. The admission office will verify your documents after which you will receive an email regarding the status of your application.
  9. Admission will be given on first-come first-serve on the basis of past academic record and performance.
  10. Please ensure that you enter the correct data in your application form, incomplete form may not be submitted or accepted.
  11. Please ensure that you have with you scan copies of the following documents for uploading (size of the document should not exceed 200kb):
  12. Candidates who are shortlisted for admission are to pay the admission fees within 24 hours (non-refundable).
  13. After payment of the fee, a copy of the transaction receipt (Student Name, Mode of payment, UTR no, date of payment, amount and Bank with Branch name) must be uploaded in the portal for seat confirmation.
  14. Candidates will receive a notification in their mobile no or email regarding the acceptance of their admission. Other details like date of commencement of classes will also be notified to the students by email.
  15. You are also requested to check the college website- https://www.synodcollege.edu.in, for any update and notifications.
  16. Failing payment, the admission shall stand cancelled and the seat offered to other candidates.
  17. At the time of joining the college, the candidates must produce Xerox copy (self-attested) of the following documents:
  • Class X/XII Marksheet.
  • Recent Passport Size photograph (white background).
    OFFLINE MODE

    Students can download the application form easily without registration of email or phone number from the admission portal of the College. Dully filled application form can be submitted in college office along with following documents:

  1. Recent passport photo.
  2. Computer generated mark sheet.
  • X/XII mark-sheet.
  • Caste/Tribe/ Community certificate if applicable
  • Payment receipt.
  • Migration certificate, if applicable (for students coming from outside MBOSE & NEHU).
  • Print out of the Online Anti-ragging Affidavit only for student pursuing degree courses (to be filled online by the students at http://antiragging.in).
How to Apply

Students can apply either online at the admission portal of the College or alternatively Admission Forms and Prospectus are also available in the College Office on payment.

Admission Criteria :

  • Students who have passed plus 2 (10+2) in their respective stream or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board in India or abroad which is considered as equivalent by the University shall be eligible for Admission into the First Semester of Honours and Degree Course.
  • Students who have passed plus 2 (10+2) or an equivalent examination from Science Stream from a recognised Board in India/Abroad have the option to change to Arts Stream or Commerce Stream and the students from the Commerce Stream have the option to change to Arts Stream only.
  • Incomplete application forms and applications received after the last date will be not be entertained.
  • Any student providing incorrect, false or misleading information in the application form shall forfeit his/her admission to the College.

 

Refund and Cancellation Policy
  1. Payment of fees shall be made preferably through online or digital mode. Fees once paid will not be refunded back.
  2. Once the Admission has been Approved you have to pay the first installment on the same day for seat confirmation .
